Sadly, the Meadowbrook Terrace street flood was deep, all residences and vehicles that were outside were flooded. The Hurricane did not spare the Felicia Reeves facility. Water rose to over 5 feet inside causing extensive damage to the walls, and to everything inside (furniture, doors, tools, security system).
We will retain professional contractors to clean out the interior, especially with the mold that has developed on walls and ceilings. Once we have more information, we will make a determination as to how to proceed with this facility, and let you know when the board has reached a decision.
All utilities have been stopped and the building has ben secured.
All items in the various Storage units were also lost due to the storm. Alyce has salvaged what she could.
We will need to maintain the outside and landscaping as long as we own the building. If you were volunteering to help with the lawn care, we will let you know when we need to restart that.
We continue to assist women Veterans who are experiencing housing problems, many of which were caused or exacerbated by the storm. The impact of Helene was horrific. We now have more women Veterans who are requiring assistance.
Your continued interest and support during this time of on-going crisis is appreciated.
